>So - the only Oils that still contain an >Anti-Wear package are the Diesel Rated oils. So far, but I'm told this is changing too, because light diesels are going to start running catalysts too, so depending on the formulation, they might not have the "old" levels of ZDDP in them. See Andrew's comment on the diesel specs. I've also read that some of the newer oils are using more moly to counter the reduction of ZDDP (which slowly "poisons" catalysts, thus the EPA pressure to reduce them), but you have to look at spectro analyses to figure out which ones use it. Mobil 1 15W-50 has been re-released with "normal" levels of zinc in it, from what I've read (see http://www.mobil1.com/USA-English/MotorOil/Oils/Mobil_1_15W-50_.aspx). But, that's way too thick of an oil for his 2.7v6. I might switch my XJ to it next time around, it runs Mobil1 0W-40 now. GM EOS has a heavy dose of ZDDP. Plain old STP does too, but only a very modest amount. -steve c. _______________________________________________ Amc-list mailing list Amc-list@xxxxxxxxxxxx http://www.amc-list.com/mailman/listinfo/amc-list
