A quick glance at the 63 Classic/Ambo TSM says YES -- cast iron and AL engines used exactly the same springs, light and HD. I seem to recall that there's only about 80 pounds difference between the two. Everything except the block on the AL engine was cast iron, including the head.

That got me thinking: did AMC use the same front springs for aluminum vs. cast
iron motor? It seems most unlikely a dealer swapping in a service replacement
motor would change the springs. See if there are part number tags on either
front spring...
