Another thought for a do it yourselfer kind of guy is that these trannies are incredibly easy to pull. Being aircooled and all.
  If it works perfect I'd seriously consider just dropping it out and totally resealing it and being done with it. 
  Especially if it appears to be seeping from several different areas. Your talking a 42 year old trans.
