I am almost having second thoughts about changing drum size on the front of my 66 American. I believe the Classic and Ambassador 6 cylinder cars used Bendix brakes...correct? If I used Bendix backing plates from a Classic 6, I cold use some really nice brake shoes I have already along with Bendix wheel cylinders and hardware. The Bendix shoes seem to have a better shoe material on them than my Wagner's do. The Wagner's are fairly slick and shiny. Maybe that's why it takes so much leg pressure to stop this car easily. If I really push hard on the brake pedal, the car stops RIGHT NOW! The more I think about it, that is most likely my problem. Slick linings.
