Most [I try to not use the "all word] of the V8 big cars had 10" drum brakes. I believe even the six cyl 65 up big cars got them??? If y ou are drum brake fan they are a good upgrade. There's a set of used supposedly good drums on the evilbay right now. I thought about using mine off the 65 parts Ambo on the shot disc brake conv, but with missmatched drums etc; I decided it wasn't worth the effort. I also thought about trying to fit the 2.5 in shoes/drums to the rear just for the hey of it. People thought I was nuts. I don't know why, it would increase the braking area and allow for longer heatup periods once I got the balance right. I've nor really looked at it close enough to be sure of what all I would need to do to pull it off. With the second American project coming online, I doubt I will fool with it. If you buy into a set of 10" drums and need anything let me know, at some point, soon I hope, I'll be cleaning my mess up. I've got a nice finned replacement front drum and some backing plates. All of it needs a real solid cleaning... -- Mark Price Morgantown, WV 1969 AMC Rambler, 4.0L, EFI, T-5 " I was different before people dared to be different" -------------- Original message ---------------------- From: "Jay" <jciampi@xxxxxxxx> > I have been interested in replacing the 9 x 2.5 inch drums on my 66 American > with some 10 inch drums.
