From: d stohler <das24rules@xxxxxxxxx> Subject: [Amc-list] rambler 327 To: amc-list@xxxxxxxxxxxx Message-ID: <410793.33287.qm@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> Content-Type: text/plain; charset=iso-8859-1 i have almost given up on my 65 287. as some people may know, i spent forever trying to find lifters and pushrods for it. i got them in and got it running. this weekend i pulled the front end of the engine apart. the chain is stretched a lot. it was one tooth off. i set it dead on. ran like CRAP. wouldnt even idle. i set it one more tooth retarded, worse. set it back to where it originally was, idled, still now power. set it one tooth advanced. wouldnt hardly idle. set it back to the original location, idled with no power as always. started tapping real loud in the left bank and had a dead cylinder again. the valve that was stuck when i first got it, and fought to get it loose siezed back up. bent a BRAND NEW pushrod. in a z shape. was H*LL to get it out. i am HATING this engine. my buddy has equipment to do a valve job. i dont know if i even want to keep screwing with this engine. in early july i am going to be going up to cincinatti area. anyone ANYWHERE within a couple hundred miles have a 327 i could pickup? i am tired of messing with this little 287. i still need a bellhousing for the t86/od. PLEASE someone help? im about tired of this engine. dave stohler http://picasaweb.google.com/das24rules _________________________________________________________________More photos, more messages, more storage?get 2GB with Windows Live Hotmail. http://imagine-windowslive.com/hotmail/?locale=en-us&ocid=TXT_TAGHM_migration_HM_mini_2G_0507
