With a chassis dyno To fine tune a holley fuel inject sys. He found a few problems before he got to the dyno.it seem's that my distributer and drive gear [cam] was shot..also excel coil shot.my question this engine only has less than 10,000 miles [390 bored/stroked] what would cause this. talked to few dealers in parts on line and most advice I got was lack of oil..[dist. did have some slop/play in it] will most likely add external oil line for timing cover and just replace dist. And drive gear.so if any of you have any thoughts and advice greatly appreciated.. UPSET AN ARAB.BREW MORE ALCOHOL ; } Oiling could be part of the problem. You need to check that. There are stock part provisions for oiling that are adequate for a street engine. My question is what do you use for cam and distributor shaft gears in first place?. If you used for example a new distributor gear with an old cam gear. Well they need to be a match set, either original old and matched new. If you mixed and match that could very well be the problem, if the gears were not a match set. Seems a simple thing but I'm told the gear need to be a set to work right for some reason from the same source. Matching manufacturer and hardness I suppose.
