I would go new over rebuilt. Then judge it by either manufacturer or cost/convienence. All things the same, I've had really good experiences with rockauto. If a problem arises I dig into their management page and email Jim Taylor, IIRC, he is an owner. He very quickly solves any problems, especially if it is a stupid answer from an employee. I gotone of those a while back and asked him what was going on. Jim explained evrything very well, within a day. I got the correct part and an apology from the employee!!! Now, how many places do that anymore??? But, if you have a core charge, I don't do rockauto. The return shipping eats any savings. with an Alternator I'd most likely go local for the sake of returnability, though if it is a wrong part issue, rockauto will send a return shipping label. I don't know if they will do that for a used failure later in the warranty period. With an alternator I either go cheapest new or buy by the warranty/name. I have a used eBayed alternator on the American. A supposed lowmileage pull from a 1999 Cherokee to match my efi setup. $20+ shipping compared to $120 for a rebuild at the time. It works great, I'm happy. -- Mark Price Morgantown, WV 1969 AMC Rambler, 4.0L, EFI, T-5 -------------- Original message ---------------------- From: "I.
