Got the head on today, at least. No troubles at all. Spent the time to run a tap through all the headbolt holes, a die over the bolts, antiseize and all that rot. After I got the head on I realized I forgot to pop out and replace the leaking freeze plug (sic), doh, it would have been easier with the head off. Oh well. To get to the plug, had to take the exhaust manifold off the tailpipe, all rusted, you know how much fun that is... absolutely would not budge (next step is to shear off)... but squirt with AeroKroil let sit for 5, the studs came right out. Whew! That stuff rules. My torque wrench got all funny (double-click on one bolt, then no click the other... had to adjust down, then back up). Got it torqued OK (cold) but I think I oughta replace that wrench... The brake system is a real scare, the master cyl leaks all over, and the lines look ready to bust. Bought about 20' of steel line will bend up a nice new tangle. Oddly, NAPA carries the front brake hoses, the oddball ones that have a bulkhead mount, but the hex-bracket type. Same part for rear?! Cheap too, $13 each. Motor, brakes, I drive it. _______________________________________________ Amc-list mailing list Amc-list@xxxxxxxxxxxx http://www.amc-list.com/mailman/listinfo/amc-list
