Yeah, I saw the Concord go across the blocks on evilbay. I wish I'd have bought it, but it is in the hands of a true AMC guy so good enough! WVU has an extensive alternate fuels program, so I could have twisted some arms to get it going again too. I'm thinking a little American on Skinny 15" tires, no frills, maybe shoot for overpowering it jsut to keep the hotrodder in me happy. Plus it'll increase it's range. On the way home it occured to me how much stiff I have laying here that would work for the driveline in an American, Bellhousing that is cracked at the starter mounting hole, perfect for electric as no starter is needed! T-4 trans, enough left overs stuff to go to a T5. a set of 15X4" stude wheels. Lots of lightweight stuff. I have no intention of building for on the road recharging, no A/C, No P/W, Power locks etc; Maybe even go so far as to rhinoline the floors and leave out all the soundinsulation. Just a down and dirty transportation piece. Then I could add luxury if/when I had a fee lfor what I truly wanted. Some of the things I've seen done in electric conversions confuses me. One thing is the people add a small reservoir and inline water heater to allow use of the factory heater core and box. Seems like a Lot of effort to heat water to heat air? I'd investigat some sort of resistance units that simply heat the air in the first place! I'd also try to rework the floor pans to accept the batteries in ways to keep them low and try and balnce the car. Back to range. I don't drive more then 40 miles on a daily basis, so range shgould be easy to manage. Ideally I'd like to get it worked up to cover about 75 miles to allow trips to my mother-in-laws and our cabin on Deep Creek lake, Md. Both places are about 50 miles so a recharge would be needed before the return trip, but we seldom spend less then 4 hours at either place for any reason, so depending on charger setups I think all of these goals are reachable.
