Bob, I checked my copy of the 73 Javelin wiring diagram. The orange wire you speak of could be connected to the wiper-washer indicator (overlay) light. The diagram does show a connector at the point where that wire connects to the dash. Two orange wires originate from one end of the steering column plug and generally feed dash light circuits. The yellow wires under the dash are generally associated with the seat belt alarm system (buzzer and alarm bulb on the dash). There is only on diagram in the 1973 TSM. No distinction is made between the tilt and non-tilt column as far as I can tell. You must have a tilt column from another model of make of car. Hope this helps.
