Ok then, the rocker shaft assembly is shown on Page 3 of the engine section (1966 TSM). The rubber band trick is explained there. Sorry about the number of hold down bolts for the shaft. As I said I was working from memory. I don't know if you can insert an errant pushrod without removing the rocker shaft. The older TSMs assume that a person working on an engine has some experience with the procedures, so specific details are often left out. So I am suggesting that you remove the rocker shaft (six bolts to remove) then get the pushrods in position and reinstall the rocker shaft. There may be another way, but this way will work.
