My problem and routine complaint about chrome lug nuts is that the chrome is usually applied on a separate layer of metal. That makes the lug nuts almost too big for the 3/4 inch socket or lug wrench. I usually just keep extra unplated AMC lug nuts I pick up in the junkyard if the car is gonna wear hubcaps or wheel covers anyway. I only use chrome lug nuts if they are going to be exposed.
