Mark, They are very protective of the "hemi" logo also. Even though almost every engine made today has a hemispherical combustion chamber, we can't call them hemi's. I'm not so sure that the new Hemi from DC is all that they say it is anyway. It has a great reputation but my little 4.3 hemi in my Lexus keeps up with my neighbours Hemi Charger pretty well. I don't know why the big 3 can't seem to make a car as well as the asians. They've been at it longer and should be the leaders but somehow they're not. When you have to rely on patriotism to sell your cars, you've already lost the war. In my mind, we have the engineers and the technology to do the job, but somewhere the new thinking either isn't being encouraged by management or its there and isn't being executed on the plant floor. Either way, something needs to be done soon or we won't be seeing some very big players around much longer. As a car guy who ground his first crankshaft and bored out his first V8 while he was in high school, and is now in his 62nd year, I don't think its that difficult to look around and figure out what's working and what's not. Why can't the auto executives do it. Who at GM was responsible for the Aztec? I know things are a lot more involved than what a consumer and hobbyist knows but when I look under my Lexus, I don't see the same suspension configurations that have been under big 3 cars for 50+ years. Things have changed. A lot of effort has been put into making things smoother and quieter. Things are somewhat more complicated and yet they seem to last. Maybe without the noise and vibration, things last longer and the owners enjoy their rides more and aren't looking around for a better car. I don't usually get into such long winded rants but as a long standing union man, I hate to see the guys on the line take the hit for a management team that can't keep up to the competition even tho they had a 50 year head start. Rant over. Don Message: 8 Date: Tue, 20 Mar 2007 13:56:15 +0000 From: Wrambler242@xxxxxxxxxxx Subject: Re: [Amc-list] Copyrights ? We should campaign for all websites to switch to this. See how the like that!
