" From: Wrambler242@xxxxxxxxxxx " " The OD trans started out in the 70's based on the Toploader. They shuffled the shifter to move fourth 1-1 into the position of third on the shifter then they produces an overdrive gear and cluster to make the original third postion an OD. " Years back there was an article on how to put the OD set in the early toploader case to make an OD true toploader. IIRC the OD trans had a different aluminum case and internal shifter somewhat kin to an SR4. you're thinking of the 'srod'. od toploaders were made with both aluminum and iron cases; side, top, and single-rail shifted. the srod was the most common, in cars. trucks were mostly top shifted, like the jeeps. dunno the case mix but there were iron ones. the jeeps were aluminum. the iron case side-shifter o/d and common short-shaft toploader are both straight swaps for the t150 3sp, except of course you can't use a column shifter. ________________________________________________________________________ Andrew Hay the genius nature internet rambler is to see what all have seen adh@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx and think what none thought _______________________________________________ Amc-list mailing list Amc-list@xxxxxxxxxxxx http://www.amc-list.com/mailman/listinfo/amc-list
