Note: ANY AMC 199/232/258 from 1964-71 will work. A 1956-65 195.6 (OHV or L-head) is the same bolt pattern and should also work. If anyone on the list can help, please drop Rick a line! And Rick, I'd appreciate it if you dropped me a note if you've found one. As far as thickness, that should be the same as a later model. Thickness is virtually the same on all the AMC engines, if that helps. I know it varies a few thousandths of an inch, but that shouldn't be an issue. I ran a 1979 plate behind a 1987 4.0L, and the thickness was the same as my old 1963 195.6 as far as I could tell. The 1963 transmission didn't mind it! (63 T-96/OD, 79 plate and bell, 87 4.0L -- what a combo! No, the T-96 didn't last long...) ----------------------- 1967 232 six cylinder bellhousing shim plate HELP!!! Posted by: "Rick" my67j3000@xxxxxxxxx my67j3000 Date: Tue Mar 6, 2007 9:37 am ((PST)) Allright I going to ask for your HELP one more time. I am rebuilding a 1967 J3000 pickup & I need a bellhousing shim plate for 232 six cylinder. I got this truck in a basket & there were a few parts missing in the drive train, I have found most of what I need but I am still missing the shim plate. The newer 232s & 258s shim plates will not work on this engine because the bell housing is smaller than the new ones. I could really use an original one but I could fab one myself if I knew what the relative thickness was. So if one of you other JEEP NUTS out there could help a guy out it would really be helpfull. GIVE IT UP GUYS & HELP ME OUT I WOULD LIKE TO GET THIS THING BACK TOGETHER. THANKS & KEEP IT OFF THE ROAD. _______________________________________________ Amc-list mailing list Amc-list@xxxxxxxxxxxx http://www.amc-list.com/mailman/listinfo/amc-list
