My son has started disassembling his 360.  He's removed the bolts for
several
of the rockers, and several of the bridges have snapped.  From his
description they broke while he was removing the bolts.  Is this a
common
failure point?

Yes! If, he took a speed wrench or air wrench and backed off one bridge
mounting bolt before he loosened the other, the uneven tension will snap
them almost every time. Been there done that. However if you break both
bolts loose and back them out equally so the tension is almost equal
they will not be a problem. I believe the TSM also refers to that
procedure as a caution too, but I knew better than that when I broke my
first ones!
