In 1955 they did use the Packard V8 and their Ultramatic Auto transmission. These are quite the "boats". Big and heavy iron, comfort and Continental Kits... Wow!. -------------------------- I forgot about the engine!! Mid 56 (April) was the first year of the AMC V-8. 250/4V only! It was only used in the Nash Ambassador Special and Hudson Hornet Special. Those were the shorter Statesman and Wasp bodies with Ambo and Hornet trim. The 7" (114" vs. 121") of front end sheet metal adding nothing but weight (well, length too) was eliminated to let the 250 perform as good as the bigger 320 Packard V-8. I think they were all two door hardtops, but I'm not positive. If it has a Packard V-8 it has to be a 56. The 250 was relegated to the Rambler line in 57, replaced in the big cars by the 327 (also used in the Special Edition Rebel, of course!) _______________________________________________ Amc-list mailing list Amc-list@xxxxxxxxxxxx http://www.amc-list.com/mailman/listinfo/amc-list
