Oh, they'd do 90. but from what I recall they all had a strange cyclic harmonic vibration to them. I had three Americans and it just seemd that once you got above 60-65 they had this vibration. It didn't rattle your teeth or anything, it was mild, but it was there. Could have been tires, u-joints but I always put it down to the engine itself. Just what I thought at the time. IRRC they were all 196 cars that did this. Now that I think about it I don't see how it could have been the engines as my 63 Classic seemed much smoother, I remember the cast iron motor being smoother running then the aluminum one that wouldn't take the abuse of a 17 year old kid. Doesn't really matter now. That was 30 years ago. -- Mark Price Morgantown, WV 1969 AMC Rambler, 4.0L, EFI, T-5 -------------- Original message ---------------------- From: Tom Jennings <tomj@xxxxxxx> > On Wed, 28 Feb 2007, Wrambler242@xxxxxxxxxxx wrote: > > > My 69 with good condition leaf springs, stock AMC-15 rear axle, T-5 and a > Pinto driveshaft does not vibrate at all. > > All my original driveline Americans had some vibration that I always put down > to their not being designed to be run at 70mph!
