And no griping about having to work on something old, or treating it like it didn't really matter. I did clean the car, and power-washed the engine and chassis very clean. I keep it clean anyways; I figure when they see me roll in, they often assume the worst, but when the car's on a lift everythin is clean, no caked grease at all, new fasteners and paint-pen dates on a lot of parts. I generally get good work done. It makes a huge difference in the attitude of the people who work on it (trans, oil changes, exhaust, tires is all I don't do at home). > My wife's secretary had a used trans put in her Honda something or other. Cost her $1500 with a 90 day warranty for parts only! No labor covered to install a replacement if the used one failed again! She called all over town and a rebuild was $2000+ and she didn't have the money. That sucks! Late model stuff is far too complicated, to hide all the car-ness and mechanical reality from video-game drivers. it's more energy efficient often, but too complicated to properly or cost-effectively maintain. Buy new, use it up, throw away consumer society. Eh. > I'd drive it very gently if it's shifting soft till the shop can make some adjustments and make sure things are OK. No sense in burning anything up. Yeah, I pulled hard-ish twice to feel it, but otherwise taking it very easy. Will go ask them tomorrow (day off). _______________________________________________ Amc-list mailing list Amc-list@xxxxxxxxxxxx http://www.amc-list.com/mailman/listinfo/amc-list
