This rule was changed last year. The caution is normally thrown at the moment the wrecks occur thus freezing the field except on the last lap if the wrecks occurred behind the leaders. In that case the yellow will be thrown when the winner crosses the line and the field will be frozen. This allows the leaders to race for the win all the way back to the start/finish line.
