you know, now that you mention it the Eagles did indeed come with loose converters! I think the thinking was, "we have a lockup we can put in a loose converter for takeoff to compensate for the high axle gears". Well those are my words not theirs! Anyway, we were warned that if we took the lockup out of the cars for owners to add a trans cooler or the trans would cook due to slippage. The owners wouldn't buy the coolers and the dealerships owner owuldn't foot the bill, nor would AMC. So after a few yeasr a lot of the local Eagles lost their trans. Another slap in AMC's face!
