I tripped over this while checking for Gladiator stuff. Looks like a CJ with
a camper? I know the Jtrucks came stock with a camper body, but never saw a
CJ?

A: I can't recall which it was either. I know of the 6 2wd MJs I and my sons
have had, there were at least 2 with 1 piece rotors.

IIRC there was a few years of MJ and XJ 2 wheel drives that used
the one piece hub/rotor. I can't remember which ones it was off
hand early or late?

Hey guys, I found another book by Dick Datson I have in my collection of
AMC books (I like technical info books) and I have no need for it anymore.
it covers turbocharging these two engine groups
(`196-199-232-258-250-287-327-290-343-304-360-390-401).
It is paper-back 8-1/2 x 11 inches and typewritten (yes, a real typewriter)
by Dick Datson in 1994.
It goes into too many details on each engine and its particulars as to
capabilities to tubrocharging and "enhancing" the performance of each engine
type.

If anyone in this group would be interested in purchasing it from me, email
me directly at : jciampi@xxxxxxxx and we can arrive at a fair price.

I also have another copy of Datson's 1993 book "The American Motors 6/V8
Performance Engine Book" which is paper-back, typewritten and is 8-1/2 x 11
inches. It is for sale also.

i been out of the loop latly. been reading the list,
but havent taken time to post lately. workin alot.
monday, i got the driver floor pannel cut out of the
car. tuesday i got a new pannel formed and welded in.
i got a master cylinder/power booster from a jeep
wrangler. i got 2000 mustang gt pbr duel piston
callipers and rotors to match. i spent about 4 hours
earlier today building brackets to fit the calipers on
the spindles. the brakelines for the calipers
suprisingly bolted right on to the factory brake
lines. weather today has hampered putting the calipers
and rotors on. rain/snow mix. cold and nasty. i got my
hubs pressed out of the drums. had to do some grinding
down on the outter diamiter of the hubs to fit them
inside the mustang rotors. took about 3/8 of an inch
all the way around. lot of time on the grinder... got
them fit, then it was time to fabricate brackets to
bolt from the spindles to the caliper mounts. i picked
up the calipers and rotors for i think around $100.
someones stock stuff from when they upgraded. i went
down to the local steel supply shop and got some 6"x6"
3/8 thick plates to cut down to make the brackets to
mount from spindle to calliper mount. if anyone is
interested in seeing pictures to do their own, let me
know. when the weather stops for a little bit finish
redrilling holes for the vacume booster to mount to
the firewall, and get the spindles and all put
together on the wheel area.

"
" A: There are 2 kinds. The one piece rotors are inner/outer bearing style.
"
"
" Hmmm... IIRC the 2WD Jeeps use the same rotors as the 4x4, they
" come off the hubs. I don't think the hubs will fit AMC car rotors.

2wd car rotors are afaik one piece with integral hub. eagle rotors
bolt onto the drive hubs just like a jeep.

I shoved a whole slew of stuff on ebay the other day as it was 20 cent
listing day. Check it out, a number of 99 cent postcards NOS, some photos,
books, used parts, sheetmetal and some oddities like clock adjuster knob for
71-74 AMX & Javelin, those always seemed to fall off, and 70 AMX & Javelin
back up light housing, real nice and also 70 AMX 1/4 panel extension, wished
I had more of those. And a number of new suspects listed like some gaskets,
Rebel Machine Press Kit, my last Machine scoop, just go look thru and see if
something you might want or need. 244 auctions, some ending Monday night a
few others ending later. Thanks should anyone here bid on any of my junk!
The main link is above, however, if link don't stick, there is a link on the
front page of my site below also.

A few years ago, I had the sheer pleasure of meeting the Killer's
sister...that's right, Jerry Lee Lewis's sister Linda Gail Lewis who is
talented musician in her own right going well back decades. A friend of
mine, Chuck Singleton, who works for Houston Studios here said "they need a
neat musclecar for a video shoot" and he was used to seeing my AMXs,
Javelins, SC/360s and other stuff parked out front of the Scoreboard Sports
Bar on Interstate 10. But the Rebel convertible "Machine" caught his eye
however. He asked if he could use it and I have known Chuck since 1980s and
quickly obliged!

I had never heard of Linda Gail Lewis but knew all about Jerry Lee Lewis as
I play piano and also played keybords in a band. And he rocks. Anyways,
Paige and me drove downtown and dropped off the Rebel, of which Chuck said
would be perfect for the shoot. Paige & me hung around watching several
takes. Really exciting if you have ever sat in on something like that. Linda
Gail was promoting her new record 'Into The Shadows' of which this
particular song would be one of the first "cuts" from that record; the song
is "I'd Rather Stay Home & Rock & Roll!" where she bangs on the piano!

Paige & me got a ride home as the Rebel would be there for three days
filming. I don't know why it never occured to me then to not take a camera
with me. Linda loved the car as did the producers all of which got a
extended long winded history on AMC......I was promised a video but I could
not get it until the video was released, it was my understanding it would
first be released in Britian where she is wildly popular, then the US. I
never got a video and well, darn it, never got a signed autograph either of
her standing next to the Rebel!

I never made that mistake again of not being with camera, and a year later
my 78 Pacer custom woodie wagon would be featured in yet another filming,
this time for a national insurance firm. We filmed that in Katy, Texas about
10 miles west of me. I hope to put that full commercial in English and
Spanish on www.youtube.com soon for all to enjoy. It was filmed in both
English and Spanish as it appeared on Telemundo and Univision along with
major english networks like CBS. I have photos from that shoot, and also
photos of my 74 Continental Airlines Gremlin which was sold to Steven
Spielberg's DreamWorks for the movie "The Haunting"; that is Liam Neeson and
Lili Taylor in my Gremlin in the movie, the car ended up in England. Both
the Pacer custom wagon and the Gremlin appear on my website however under
the JUST STUFF file, so have photos of that.....just never got to see the
Rebel....
until now!

This is the direct link to view the Linda Gail Lewis video, it is about 4
minutes and really catchy tune so crank it up:
http://vids.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=vids.individual&videoid=1703248482

If you can't access the link above, simply go to www.myspace.com

then search for "Linda Gail Lewis" and click on the video to watch! The Rebel
still looks great in 2007
by the way and is still driven daily in Houston,Texas and now sports 127,000
miles
on that formidable 401.
