A: 241 does indeed share pattern with the other 6 bolt round cases. I have
one that I test fit to my 727, 999, and AW4 23 spline cases. The NV241 DHD
came with 23 or 29 spline inputs (I'm kicking myself because the one I had
and sold was 23 spline and I didn't check because I was told they only came
29 spline (AAARGH!)
The Dodge 4x4 trucks with Cummins and 727 came with 23 spline (non-turbo)
and 29 spline (turbo) till '93ish. The depth of the input gear changed @'93
and they added a centering shaft to the trans end. The tcase doesn't need
it. (The '93 1/2 42RE I had was this way with NV249 tcase and 23 spline. It
fit the '96 AW4 fine so it was a deeper input than 727)

that would be natural, depending on which diesels. afaik it was
intended for medium-duty -gas- engines, 400 ft-lbs and under.
on most
trannies the output shaft goes first though.

hmmm... afaik all np/nvg t/c since the 207 have the same 6-bolt
pattern and -most- have 23 spline inputs, but a few are 21
spline and
the top end [like the 271] have 29. what tranny did they hook
it to?
i don't think there's a 29-apline output for the 727, though aa
or
novak might have something.
