Not having any clue what the term "not the same" actually means--------- Snip The Ones We Have Found Are Not The Same{ e-Bay, J.C. Whitney, Snip I do not purchase anything from J.C. Whitney so can not compare their cheap junk to anything that is worth buying but--- Snip If it's made the way I think it is. They will need to have one chromed. The Pacer had some differences to it for Air cleaner mounting and firewall clearances. IIRC! -- Snip I have installed 5 Chrome valve covers purchased from Kennedy American (an AMC vendor) on various I6 engines including Pacers with no problems at all with fit. The Chrome has held up o.k. and the fit has been o.k., These valve covers fit all of the 232 and 258 I-6 engines (heads) from 1970 to 1980 also probably the 199 which is related to the 232. In 1981 the head mounting for the valve cover was changed to be compatible with the infamous plastic valve cover so the chrome ones for those years will not fit on 1981 and newer AMC I-6 engines. Other variables have to do with the "gulp" valve and the valve used for catalytic converters when applicable as there is no mounting location for them on the Chrome Valve Cover, so they just sit there on top in my cars. Also the holes used for Oil Fill, and PCV hose mounting hardware are not a standard AMC size. I use oil fill rubber plugs used on the Buick V6 as used in the Jeep. These rubber plugs were commonly used on other GM applications too. I core a hole in the rubber as needed to fit the PCV mounting hardware. They are also available from Jeff Kennedy as an installation package. As far as the Pacer goes, there is no difference in valve covers that I have seen for what that is worth so I would not worry about them. There are also a number of manufacturers for Chrome Valve covers too so there may be different procedures used for other types. But for what I use, they bolt on with no more than normal installation quirks.
