Dave, I might be mistaken on the bearing in the tube -- might just be V-8 models or 63-66 models. You have a TSM though, take a look at it!! I know, I hate to read the instructions first too... ;> If there was a bearing it would have come out with the shaft. Even if it was torn up the inner part would be on the shaft. Anyway, if the u-joint is tight make sure you change the sleeve bearing in the end of the trans. It's in the tailshaft housing right behind the rear seal. Look at the TSM first, but it should drive out from inside or outside, new one drive in the same way. Use a wood block to drive the new on in. If you mushroom the end a little you can dress it up with a round file, but be as gentle as you can and take it slow and easy! If you don't have a brass punch or drift you need to get on. It's hard enough to drive things like that out without scratching steel, and won't mar aluminum as bad as a steel punch either. Also doesn't create sparks if there are any fumes around. _______________________________________________ AMC-List mailing list AMC-List@xxxxxxxxxxxx http://www.amc-list.com/mailman/listinfo/amc-list or go to http://www.amc-list.com
