"I thought there was no valvebody (other than direction controller and manual over ride for the gears) in the AW4? Just electric solenoids controlled by the computer?" ------------------------- No, there's still a valve body to control action (forward, reverse, etc.) and internal pressure. There's also a failsafe mode so the vehicle can be manually shifted with the shifter if one of the solenoids fail. It skips a gear when that happens, depends on which solenoid is out. The solenoids just handle the shifting after it's in drive. -- Frank Swygert Publisher, "American Motors Cars" Magazine (AMC) For all AMC enthusiasts http://farna.home.att.net/AIM.html (free download available!) _______________________________________________ AMC-List mailing list AMC-List@xxxxxxxxxxxx http://www.amc-list.com/mailman/listinfo/amc-list or go to http://www.amc-list.com
