I decided not to go... mainly because, since I don't know what I'm looking for yet, I'd end up buying sh*t I didn't need. (WANT is the problem...) Partly I'm broke, and the Rambler needs a new tranny. $1500! I may start collecting certain parts I know I'll need, and start to tear down an engine to see what I need (I may have one with a fine bottom end, that died from the early six top-end oiling weakness). ------------------------------ Message: 2 Date: Tue, 17 Oct 2006 01:35:32 +0000 From: "johnny kazek" <johnnykazek@xxxxxxxxxxx> Subject: [AMC-List] Help pulling hub and axle 60 Rambler To: mail@xxxxxxxxxxxx Message-ID: <BAY119-F1095A027B1426AC57E64CCA50E0@xxxxxxx> Content-Type: text/plain; format="flowed" Thanks for the advice Tom. Yes I was asking about the 4 bolts that hold the backing plate to the axle housing and recommended torque ft/lbs (not specified in manual, I'll assume 'very tight'). I do have the manual and it says to use a special axle shaft puller, so that's why I was asking, I'm green and don't yet know what I can or can't get away with. And yeah I'm concerned about what kind of shape that axle is going to be in, so I didn't want to make things worse unwittingly. Guess I'm picturing the whole setup to be more fragile than it actually is. I'll give it a try in the a.m. and hopefully have some kind of result to post soon. Thanks again- Johnny _________________________________________________________________ [1]Get FREE company branded e-mail accounts and business Web site from Microsoft Office Live References 1. http://g.msn.com/8HMBENUS/2734??PS=47575 ------------------------------ _______________________________________________ AMC-List mailing list AMC-List@xxxxxxxxxxxx http://www.amc-list.com/mailman/listinfo/amc-list End of AMC-List Digest, Vol 9, Issue 45 ***************************************
