That's Ok I think I left all the 1's in front of the compression heights when I sent the last reply out! Someone on here asked me about using the Early Hemi pistons in the 327. I forget who. I was looking at Arias catalog and I see these pistons are so very close to being right for the 327! Being as they are forgings IIRC it looks like by simply removing the big valve reliefs on the inboard/outboard edges from the machining process they could well be a wonderfully easy piston choice. Ideally the piston would need the valve reliefs not cut and the pin cut to The AMC spec. I get the feeling that you might as well just count on buying a "custom" forging as that is what they will charge you for! Back to my early rambling, How much could decking will an early Gen I engine stand? That would be the easiest approach to the problem of no longer having the 4 barrel pistons available. Flip side is if your spending $330+ on the two barrel pistons for replacement you might as well spend $600+ to get the forged customs. I was hoping to find a dished piston that would allow bringing the quench into modern spec and keep compression at or under 9.5-1. -- Mark Price markprice242ATadelphia.net Morgantown, WV ---- Michael Bailey <route66rambler@xxxxxxxxx> wrote: > > > wrote: > > Message: 12 > Date: Wed, 11 Oct 2006 10:06:17 -0600 > From: "Glenn Ford" <gcmford@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> > Subject: Re: [AMC-List] 287/327 Piston Heights-MATH > > > >Michael, back away from the boring bar, LOL! > > 15/16" = 60/64", subtract 57/64" = 3/64", as stated. > > "I cut it 3 times and it was STILL too short." OK, you caught me. it IS 3/64ths of an inch difference in height between 2 and 4 barrel pistons for the 327 engine. Let's hope I'm not typing the next time I measure pistons. /;] > m. > > > > > --------------------------------- > All-new Yahoo!
