carnuck@xxxxxxxxxxx> Subject: Re: [AMC-List] Alternative to Carter for Spirit GT To: mail@xxxxxxxxxxxx Hey, a couple of other less comlicated replacements can be found from the Jeep World. The most common is the Weber 2Bbl Carb... normally $250+ on Ebay, but a great replacement carb.. not a simple carb to tune/build, but good. My favorite.. the Motorcraft 2Bbl 2100 series. Look for one with a "1.08" venturi size, which is stamped in the circle on the side of the fuel bowl. These are FABULOUS replacements, as long as your car already runs well. Many rebuild kits use Cheap, nasty Power Valves that blow easily, however, you can use Holley P Valve and Jets for tuning if you can't find a quality M-craft rebuild kit. CHEAP if you can find them (used on lots of Ford I-6 and 302's)! The larger "1.21" was used on the 360 Jeeps. Also Holley 2 Bbl (350) is good, but can be pricey since dirt track guys often have to use them. Tune just like a Holley 4 Bbl. The Holley 390 4 Bbl is nice for street use also, though might as well change intake. These work great with Header/Intake/Cam mods. Let us know what you choose and how you like it! THese are all made easier with manual trannies. NO MATTER WHAT, DO NOT RUN A CHRYCO/AMC TRANS WITHOUT PROPER DOWNSHIFT LINKAGE (TV ADJUSTMENT)! You will burn your tranny as soon as you hit the street! Jesse __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Tired of spam? Yahoo!
