A: The Pony is a RWD version of the Excel (almost the same sheet metal, but 
they also came with wagon bodies) and pretty close to the Dodge Colt (same 
drivetrain) I preferred the Hyundai Stellar (larger motor and better 
ride/longevity) and wouldn't mind having another '88 in my garage. 2.0L OHC 
with the same motor as D50 pickups and auto O/D.

is the pony a truck?  the big 3 successfully lobbied congress to
pass
a japanese truck import ban back in teh early '80s iirc, and
since
then all the little 'japanese' pickups have been rebadged
detroit
models.

it is with morbid amusement that i see japanese companies
successfully
import their suvs as -cars- but get them past the epa and dot
etc as
-trucks-.
