The sweet spot for gas mileage depends on the engine and what the terrain
is like around you. Smaller engines need more RPM but an AMC six or V8
(which make a lot of torque at low RPM) should be quite happy around 2,000
RPM at 65 MPH. If it's flat, you can get by with fewer RPM but you'd need
more in a hilly area.

With it being a 20+ year old car I believe that titling it is little more than paying the duties and taxes.
Now if you are bringing in a bunch or do it often you may have more problems, But last I checked one car, one time was no big deal.
I looked at a Canadian T-bird Super Coupe a 1990 IIRC, I called nearest Import or whatever it was called office and they said, " No big deal, Bring the car and the title with a bill of sale and we can take care of it all at once". I didn't follow thru as the car was non running and I would have had to take it 2 hours each way on a trailer,. On top of that the seller didn't think my offer was high enough.

Go to www.coilsprings.com and order some! They custom make springs as ordered. All they make now are progressive rate springs even to replace the old "static rate" ones. They figure out the correct replacement rate. You might want to order 10% over stock, that would be about the factory HD springs.

Before I go through great lengths to research something that someone else has
already done, what is my "best" option for rear springs for my 1973 4-dr.
Matador? The rear is sagging and I need to fix that. I am not concerned with
stock vs. non-stock and would tend towards the performance end of things and may
someday tow with this vehicle.
Of course I could always put in the Air-Lift bags.
I was hoping to find some progressive rate springs but my preliminary research
doesn't find any.
Any comments, experience, ideas, cross references, web sites?

Any idea what number is stamped into the part? I have a PILE of parts I will
be going through this week in preparation for the big swap meet next sunday
(in case anyone missed it, it's in Enumclaw, WA at the fairgrounds and one

I know I have a couple bumper ends from either Concord, early Eagle or
Spirit (the kind that don't attach to the fender) I also will be clearing
out all my excess tail lights. (I even have swimming pool underwater lights!
As well as old ambulance/firetruck/schoolbus stuff I was planning to put on
my full size Cherokee till I got my current 4 Jeep pickups. 2 FSJ and 2
Comanches. The '86 Comanche may be getting an AMC 304 transplant. <G>)

A: I guess it's time for me to make my seasonal announcement: If you want
Defrost and Heat at the same time on the older pushbutton style controls,
take the 3 hoses off the back of the switch and join them together with a
vacuum tee. That will open both doors at the same time. Kept my windshield
defogged and toes warm, even on Canadian winter nights. (that is assuming
the vacuum ball is hooked to the intake and the hoses are in good shape.
Under dash don't seem to rot like under the hood, but rodents like to eat
them!)
You could go 1 step further and find a vacuum switch and 2 tees, then join
both the lines through the extra switch (I have one from a QT setup) and you
can control when you have both, or cut it down to one or the other.
