I'm looking for two brake parts for my 1973 AMC Hornet Sportabout with a six cylinder in-line engine (so they're 9" rear drum brakes). I've posted a small photo at: http://www.safetrakusa.com/hornetbrake.jpg. (The metal bar in the middle is a 12" ruler to give you an idea of the scale.) Someone else said the part numbers are 01 - 6320 - 1960 Parking Brake Lever and 01-6320-1944 Parking Brake Strut. I need the right hand (passenger side) version of the lever, the strut is reversible. Thank you for looking and for your time. What correctly was called a "Street Kit Car" package was the step up from a '78 A67 "Super Coupe" --- even if its code was (and why not?!) A43: both as "rare" from Chrysler as SC/360 and Hornet AMX were from AMC, but -all- 1025 (Crimson Sunfire and Sable Tan metallic) A67s and 392 (two-tone racing red or racimg blue) A43s had 15x8 negative-offset, chrome-nut, steel wheels. The flares had exposed fasteners and looked like they'd been cut from trash can lids, but while A43 ran with 'Vette, Z28, or TA, its sales ran down because, as it was being introduced, Petty ran out on Mopar to run in the G-body (which was called A-body then) Chevy-Poncho. Unlike his switcheroo to Torino in '69, Richard didn't return to Dodge; even when Kyle drove a Magnum in his ARCA Daytona debut. K. flip-flopped (as did the paint on his Grand Prix) into a Pontiac in '82, as well. As always, no dearth of history --- unless it's history for AMC. http://www.pettyracing.com/index_hi.html And FWIW, A43 wheels had no hubcaps (in case you see some of either for sale on eBay...) and the third "rare" 2-door (prior to AMC's one-off "M" Ambassador...) Aspen/Volare was a TV-theme show car called the "Fonzmobile" (Google it and you may see a boat!) http://tinyurl.com/j3zyu http://www.indcjournal.com/archives/fonz.jpg Ayyyy! http://i75.photobucket.com/albums/i292/awolseb/fonz_big.jpg Heyyy! http://img237.exs.cx/img237/9617/fonz4bl.jpg Oyyyy? that actually led to the building of California customs called, well, CCs. Those cars had fake cabriolet tops that looked like the Packard Victoria's http://www.wwmotorcars.com/images/PreviousProjects/35packard.jpg (or, for equal opportunity historicism, the even bigger Cadillac's) http://tinyurl.com/ebjrx along with some really wide whitewalls, deep trim rings, and Baby Moons. While dealer-built, they, like some cars seen by -other- car companies (AMC?), led to later production models that most of you must have seen. http://www.moparkerho.net/harrastus/carpics/83mirada14.jpg http://www.sounddomain.com/ride/330678 http://www.dippy.org/info/image/cor82bro04.jpg http://www.dippy.org/info/image/cor82bro05.jpg Seeing a different roof, something else you must have seen: 1970s AMC factory photography done at the same location where this Chrysler Cordoba picture was posed. http://www.dippy.org/info/image/cor82bro02.jpg Can your remember the AMC model(s) and year(s)? I've got three! I've also got three 327's, plus a 287! so I don't want short myself a manifold. You never know, I might actually live to use all three of those engines some day! :] I agree eBay is the good source, but a quicker one may be to hit the amcforums as I've seen several people post for one on the wanted forum and it seems that someone is always fairly quick to offer one up. Expect to pay $60-100 for one. -- Mark Price markprice242ATadelphia.net Morgantown, WV ---- Wayne E LaMothe <superglider@xxxxxxxx> wrote: > They come up on EvilBay once in a while.
