This was an unintended purchase and it surprised me when it ran. I bought this car from a neighbor who had purchased the car as a parts car for his 1963 Rambler convertible. He never pulled any parts off it and he moved to Hawaii recently. He plans to move the little pink convertible to Hawaii soon, but had to leave the hardtop behind. The car is a 440 hardtop and was originally frost white including the top (paint code 72). It has a light blue interior, buckets seats, console and twin stick transmission. It has the two-barrel WCD carb and has a remanufactured short block 196 engine with a tag on it that says POWER-PAK. The car has brand new radial tires (185-60-15) which look kinda wierd on the car. It has a really bad beige paint job which I can only assume was put on the car to protect it. The paint is flaking badly and there is no evidence that the frost white paint was ever even sanded before the repaint. In other words the car looks doggy, but is all there. There are some bubbles in the paint on the lower rear heels of the front fenders which I assume is rust starting there. The car runs, but needs the carburetor rebuilt. I have a rebuild kit ordered for the carb. The chrome is in OK shape, with some scratches on the bumpers and some pitting of the ornaments. The interior is in fair condition and could be used with only a clean-up. I do have extra Rambler station wagon 15 inch wheels and new (larger size) tires which can go with the car. The glass is all good with no cracks or broken panes. The car is currently registered so there are no back fees due to DMV. I am asking $1000 before I spend any more money on this car. Because of its condition and completeness (and relative rarity) I think this would be an excellent project car for someone new to the hobby. I can transport it up to say 500 miles on my trailer for $.60 per loaded mile.
