Jack from personal experience don't waste your time and money on one of those gas tank sealer kits. Have it professionally repaired. I put the newer 21 gallon tank in both my 74 Hornets. It is still available new as it was also in the Eagle wagon's and 4 door sedan's. It was the same size but just deeper so with new gas tank straps it was almost a bolt in with only minor mods needed to hook up the fuel lines and vent line to the roll over valve. A new fuel tank sending ring and gasket ("O" Ring) is also available over the counter too. The sending unit itself I had to get a NOS one from Kennedy American. On the rear noise I think all the AMC rears of the era were set up loose and made noise even when new. If you are gong to change the pinion bearings also change the ring gear carrier bearings and wheel bearings.
