ok, im still tryin to scrounge up parts for a t5 behind a 304. i got ahold of a bellhousing from a jeep to bolt a 304/t5. next deal. the clutches im finding... 10.5" for 304 with a 10 spline 1 1/8" input shaft. the clutch for a mustang t5 is 10.4" wich would work, but the 10 spline 1 1/16?? i could get a pressure plate for the 304, and a disk for the mustang t5 maybe? would the thickness of the disk be right tho? or is there a part # thru a company that would make a clutch kit that would work. i need the pressure plate, disk, throwout bearing, and also the bearing that goes into the flywheel that the nose of the input shaft sits in. i am not going to be drag racing the car, only a mild build on the 304, so a wc t5 should be just fine. its a light car anyway. o, on that bellhousing, it did come with a fork suposably correct for that bellhousing. any help would be great. as some of the people around here say "happy wednsday"......

USE an AMC disc. Early 70's Jeep and AMC applications show a 1 X 1 1/16" disc in 10.5" diameter.
I found the listing on RAMS website. I've not done the actual application discovery process to get a "stock" replacement clutch yet. I believe it is a T-10 disc. John Elle said he did not have ot replace is disc when he changed over from T-10 to T-5 so that is why I'm assuming that. John also said the some of the Ford discs don't work right because of hub placement and he recomends always getting the AMC disc or being very carefull to check clearances if using a Ford disc. I've been told that Fords discs work fine by others, So what ever you choose to do, check it carefully. If your buying parts for later assembly, Which can make returning items troblesome, I'd get a set from RAM or another, not Centerforce, performance company.

For a throwout bearing, Use one for a 82 Spirit, 258, T-4 or T-5 spec. The Jeep arm should be fine.
I bought a cheap one, it was noisy in no time. I think the one in place now is Mcleod? Just bought out buy B&M or Mr Gasket, Again, Not Centerforce, I've heard some bad things about them recently!

Any of the color coded wiring kits will work well, pick the number of circuits you need and go. Get one that has color coding and wording on the wires for that ext bit of wiring ease! Lats Months Carcraft did a rewire on thier Rambler! IIRC.

Talked to my shop partner (who runs PRD), asked him to come up with a coupon or redemption code to give anyone on the list a discount. I think he's setting up a $5 for anything over $50 to give anyone wanting a weatherpack starter kit a bit of a break. I'll report back once he lets me know it's set up. If anyone ordered one let me know and I'll make sure you get the discount in case you didn't.

here in iraq, i work on trucks called a HET (heavy equipment
transporter) made by oshkosh. they got that detroit 8V92 series 2 stroke
diesel turbo/supercharged motors. i replace them quite often as these
guys drive the ever livin dog piss out of them almost nonestop. these
trucks use these weatherpack conectors thru almost the entire truck.
they are GREAT. i would recomend them to anyone. they got a great thru
pannel connector with maybe 18-20 wire terminals in it. cut a hole in
the pannel the size you need, 2 bolt holse on either side, bolt it to
the pannel, and the connector sits on the other side with a 1/4 stud on
the other side of the connector to hold it on the mounted side. they are
water tight, and very secure connections. since they came up on the
list, i see they actually sell them. i never knew that. hmm... been

you could use a painless wiring kit, with these connectors??.... hmm..

by the way, has anyone on the list here ever rewired with one of them
painless wiring muscle car kits?? or any of the painless wiring kits at
all? just wondering how "painless" they really make it. heck, i been
rewiring HETS that have wires that are all black, just #'s on them.

everything you want is in a late-'70s 304/3sp car or jeep. the tranny
they used then is a ford t150 toploader with the same 10 x 1 1/16"
spline and 0.670" pilot as the mustang 5.0 t5. same output spline and
even length overall i think. iirc the to brg crosses to a ford part,
but doublecheck that. amd i've begun to wonder if the rear mounts are
the same, but i haven't checked...

one place that won't just slide together - the 5.0 t5 retainer is
4.85" diameter but the hole on the amc bell is 4.64". a gm t5
retainer would fit, or maybe a 4 cyl ford t5 one. or you'll need to
do a little machine work.

i'm a little surprised john elle could reuse his t-10 disk, but then
the disk for my t-14 is often listed as 10 x 1" when i know the spline
is 15/16". maybe it's in the shape of the splines...

Someone had installed the Delco starter and cut the pinion snubber
bracket. I wanted to replace the pinion snubber and since I did not
have the Prestolite starter but I did have Motorcraft starters...

The gear, gear depth and the diameter of the mounting hole are correct;
it seems I had to trim the flange and be creative with the mounting
hardware.

The 327 turned over much faster with the Motorcraft starter.

I use Madison Starter and alternator off of Auburn Road in Rochester
Hills (very easy to get to if you are near I-75)

Madison Starter & Alternator 1727 E Auburn Rd Rochester, MI 48307-5508
(248) 852-2055

They don't even blink when I bring them weird stuff and are very
reasonable with pricing. They've done stuff for MG T series cars, tons
of AMC stuff, 1950's stuff and more for me and I've never been
disappointed.

Hmmmm, That is all interesting, plus you managed to move the solemoid away from the engine heat. What motorcraft did you use? An AMC V-8 unit?
I might have to look into that before I do the 327 in the Ambassador. Was yours a turbo 400 or Stick? Does that make a difference in 327 Jeep starters? Would that work on the AMC cars and Borg Warner trans?
Thinking out loud here, But remote solenoid and fast cranking can't be a bad thing! Can it?
Although I bet it might be the same for the Borg cars. I think I saw someone advertising the mini starters for the 327-287 cars a while ago on eBay.
