We've been buying the bare connectors for them and making our own interfaces and cradles, so far we've used aluminum and delrin to make them out of. We've got a Miata that we built a port directly into the console that gets rid of the need for the usual fm transmitters and that stuff. We used a ipod Nano and the hole is exactly the size of the ipod base itself. When it's not in use we made a small rubber plug that fills the hole and it just disappears. By not using the "universal" stuff it allows us to tailor them to the car at hand and makes them easy to put anywhere. We have connectors that sit at 90 (vertical) and 70 degrees (slightly slanted) but you can orientate them on any plane you wish. They require very little depth under the surface. My 64 Pontiac was built with stealth in mind so we are coming up with a really cool setup for it (should be done in another few weeks) and my AMX is right behind. If you have multiple cars it really cool to be able listen to your favorite stuff no matter what you are driving. Audiophiles are entirely correct, you do lose fidelity with the compressed formats, set up well though it's certainly livable especially in a musclecar where it's not the audio providing the primary thrills. The ipods through a factory head unit with some decent component speakers sounds pretty awesome to 95% of the population. ~John -----Original Message----- From: amc-list-bounces@xxxxxxx [mailto:amc-list-bounces@xxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Jock J Jocewicz Sent: Wednesday, June 28, 2006 2:02 PM To: amc-list@xxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [AMC-List] AMC INK - IPODS I know nothing about IPOD's MP3's, etc. as I am an AM man but the August 2006 issue of Musclecar Enthusiast does a 2-page story by Richard Truesdell on the installation of an IPOD in his 69 Rambler.
