Frank...you are too darned good for words!!! Many thanks. This thing is really getting to the point that it is pretty competitive. We put new paint on it...got in a tangle with a couple of cars in March. All the best, ed In a message dated 6/12/2006 3:14:29 A.M. Did you use the 4.0L timing cover or the 258? I'm not sure the timng marks will line up correctly unless you use the timing cover for the balancer you used (258 timing cover and balancer will work). That said, forget about the timing light and try timing "by ear". Once the car is running just turn the distributor until it appears to run smooth. Take it out and run it. If it pings, retard timing. If it doesn't, try turning it up a little. The headers glowing might be from a rich condition, not timing. _______________________________________________ AMC-List mailing list AMC-List@xxxxxxxxxxxx http://www.amc-list.com/mailman/listinfo/amc-list or go to http://www.amc-list.com
