I just recieved a box from a company in VT; a 70 lb. rowing machine, so you 
can imagine how big. I was charged $55 US dollars to ship from Vermont to my 
home in Canada (not including brokerage fee/taxes). Very reasonable, in fact 
I was quite surprised. The cost of the machine plus shipping plus taxes and 
exchange still came out to $300 less than buying it in Canada...if shipping 
costs were as high as you are finding, it would have been a deal killer. Try 
Fedex, maybe you'll be surprised.
