I mentioned my bad luck w/NAPA, he pointed out the good nose bush. Price was $35 + $10 core! NAPA is nearly $70, for crap! The message stated you're looking for a source for frint springs. The source I always use is www.coilspings.com (Coil Spring Specialties in Kansas). Since this is for an early to mid 60s car, I suggest you order springs 10-15% stiffer than stock. That's about what factory heavy duty springs would have been. CSS only makes progressive coils now, not "straight" compression rate. The progressives ride much better -- a little soft initially but stiffen at an increasing rate as they are compressed. They will work out the rate you need based on the original "straight" rate. They have charts showing factory rates from way back. -- Frank Swygert Publisher, "American Independent Magazine" (AIM) For all AMC enthusiasts http://farna.home.att.net/AIM.html (free download available!) original message------------------------------------------ Date: Wed, 26 Apr 2006 21:47:59 -0400 From: imfatdad@xxxxxxxxx Subject: [AMC-List] Front Springs... If no luck at AutoZone, etc., try NAPA. Second place to try are some of the AMC vendors such as Galvin's (www.ramblerparts.com) or APP (www.amclives.com). Kanter (www.kanter.com) may have them also. If not listed on Kanter's site call -- they have many items not on the website. I wouldn't be surprised at all if the drums interchange with some Ford models. Ford used a lot of Bendix brakes also. I'm not sure about the Chryslers. If there is an interchange the drum manufacturing companies usually know and mark their part numbers accordingly. The offset of the drum to the hub and the way it meets the backing plate would be the only differences if the bolt pattern, width, and inside diameter matches. ----- Original Message ----- From: "amx javelin" <amxjavelin@xxxxxxxxx> To: <eddiestakes@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Monday, April 17, 2006 1:33 PM Subject: 69-70 javelin drums > hi eddie, > looking for new brake drums front & rear for my 69 & 70 > javelin SST ... do you if any manufacture is still make > these and were they are available.
