To: amc-list@xxxxxxxxxxxx Message-ID: <20060410120124.58802.qmail@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> Content-Type: text/plain; charset=iso-8859-1 Well, I got my Widea brand Metro's last week, they'll look great on my HO scale railroad when I get my module set up for either car shows or airshow, I intend to use them on both. Looking at the back of the box, there are more in different colors, I counted at least 4 more, either Metro or Nash Rambler, they have both. I could see at least 8, some convertible, some hardtop, but they're so small on the box art, hard to tell the details. Anyway, the detailing is good, better be for $7.50 per car with shipping. :) Next buy will be the Ramblers. There's a Taxi version, and a couple of hardtops. Pretty nice little cars! If anyone is interested in buying, I've found only one guy in the US of A , in Florida, who has them, or you can buy them off Ebay thru him. Just search on Widea and Metropolitan, and you'll find him. Just thought I'd post about these neat little cars. Jerry Casper __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? To: amcrelay@xxxxxxxxxxxx Message-ID: <ADVANCES62NXRPmcarc000003d1@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> Content-Type: text/plain The web site has been down for the last three days due to the fact that the AMC-List has changed servers. If you want to read the list on-line go to www.amc-list.com and view the Archives -- for now. If you view by date the latest entry is at the bottom of the page. As soon as the wbe site owner (Jim Stone) gets a chance to fix the problem he will. We changed servers last Thursday afternoon and didn't think there would be a problem, but I believe the site's ISP may not automatically change DNS addresses without someone verifying them first for security purposes. If that's the case the site here should be back up in a couple days. Jim may have to make some changes in the software though, which could take longer. Rest assured we're working on the problem! To post a new message or reply to the list you must subscribe. You can do this at www.amc-list.com also. The default mail format is "digest", which means you'll get one or more e-mails daily, depending on list traffic. Right now it's averaging two digests per day. You won't be flooded with e-mail. A digest collects 8-15 messages (depending on length) and sends them out in one message of about 40K. If the 40K trip point isn't reached the system will send out whatever was collected in the last 24 hours, so at least one digest will go out daily. You can change your settings to "disable" mail (won't send anything) and read on-line or to send individual messages as they are received by the list by turning digest off. THEN you will get an average of 15 mails daily (by turning digest off). The advantage to that is you get the mails sooner and it's easier to reply to them. To reply to a message from a digest or that you read in the archive list you have to use your e-mail program. Click on an underlined address and your computer should open an e-mail to that address. If you have your system set up differently just send a message to mail@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Don't forget to type in a subsject or cut and paste the subject (and any part of the message you wish to quote) to your e-mail message. ============================================================= Posted by wixList Archiver -- http://www.amxfiles.com/wixlist ------------------------------ Message: 3 Date: Sun, 9 Apr 2006 20:28:46 -0500 From: William D Clevenger <billclev1@xxxxxxxx> Subject: [AMC-List] 1978 Concord To: amc-list@xxxxxxxxxxxx Message-ID: <20060409.202847.3884.1.billclev1@xxxxxxxx> Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii 1978 Concord, 4dr, 33,000 miles, Bronze or Copper tone. Combustion chamber sizes are different for the 172.6, 184, and 195.6 L-head engines. I'm not sure how to tell which this is for, but it's most likely for the 195.6. Compression shouldn't be to much even if it's a 184 head, but it will rise some. Might even be a good thing! We couldn't transfer settings easily. We should have put everyone on digest mode before switching, but forgot to do so. I changed everyone over Friday night and the complaints have all most ceased. We get one occasionally from someone who got frustrated/surprised by the sudden and unexpected influx of mail when we first switched over and now doesn't want to see even one or two messages, but most people don't mind 1-3 digests it seems. I've made the default sign-up digest mode, so that should help. > > Of course the other problem was long inactive addresses, either on purpose (like yours and my work address also) or forgotten. The forgotten ones should have been cleared from the system, but either the old server wasn't deleting them or people were getting the "reply if you want to stay subscribed" message and replying to it not knowing what it was. In any case, we're down from the 1744 addresses when we changed over (I didn't believe that number!) to 784 at the moment. I was thinking we should have around 700-800 subscribers, with close to 100 doubled addresses (like you and I -- people keeping two addresses subscribed). So we should have around 700 individuals subscribed to the list. Only a few left that were intentionally subscribed. We've had two new people subscribe over the last couple days despite the problems, which was a mild surprise! > > Most of it seems to be cleared up already. I think the last few complainers will be okay once they realize they aren't going to get more than 1-3 mails a day. Only a few people have figured out how to change their settings and read on the archive site, but that will get around too. I hope the AMX-Files comes back up in a couple days though, that will really be nice! The list and web site have been working together for a long time, and make a good team. > > -- > Frank Swygert > Publisher, "American Independent > Magazine" (AIM) > For all AMC enthusiasts > http://farna.home.att.net/AIM.html > (free download available!) > > original message------------------------------------------- > > Date: Sun, 9 Apr 2006 08:39:12 -0700 (PDT) > From: Nick ALFANO <71amx@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> > Subject: [AMC-List] Welcome to the list issues > > Tom, > There are probably a lot of people who are a member > yet never receive the list. I would occasionally get emails at both of my subscribed addresses stating that there had been 90 days ( ?) of inactivity on my account (seems like 90 days was what it said, maybe it was more) and because of that inactivity my email address had been removed so I would have to re-subscribe both of my email addresses. The funny thing was it would send me that inactivity notice a day or two after I posted. > > Jamie > > > {quote} -------------------------------------------------------------------- -- > > Message: 1 > Date: Sun, 09 Apr 2006 13:59:18 +0000 > From: farna@xxxxxxx<mailto:farna@xxxxxxx> > Subject: Re: [AMC-List] please un subscribe (NOTE FROM LIST ADMIN) > To: nightair@xxxxxxx<mailto:nightair@xxxxxxx>, mail@xxxxxxxxxxxx<mailto:mail@xxxxxxxxxxxx> (AMC-List) > Message-ID: > <040920061359.29589.4439133600036D2E0000739521603763160E029D0E00@xxxxxxx<mai lto:040920061359.29589.4439133600036D2E0000739521603763160E029D0E00@xxxxxxx> > > > > > I understand the frustrations when suddenly getting 30-50 individual e-mails. The problems we had when changing were two-fold: The biggest one was the old server wasn't maintaining the subscriber list as it was set up to do. It never deleted a subscribed e-mail address even though it was supposed to confirm on a bi-yearly basis and delete unless the message is sent stating a user would be deleted unless a reply was sent to a specific link. > <snip> {quote} > > > > ------------------------------ > > Message: 3 > Date: Mon, 10 Apr 2006 00:07:02 -0500 > From: "Eppley's" <ftime@xxxxxxx> > Subject: [AMC-List] unsubscibe > To: AMC-List@xxxxxxxxxxxx > Message-ID: <4439A1A6.22717.2E8F16E@localhost> > Content-Type: text/plain; charset=US-ASCII > > please unsubcribe > > > -- > No virus found in this outgoing message. > Checked by AVG Free Edition. > Version: 7.1.385 / Virus Database: 268.4.0/304 - Release Date: 4/7/2006 > > > > ------------------------------ > > Message: 4 > Date: Sun, 9 Apr 2006 22:44:36 -0700 (PDT) > From: Wendy <wendylinn83@xxxxxxxxx> > Subject: [AMC-List] getting mail when I haven't subscribed > To: amc-list@xxxxxxxxxxxx > Message-ID: <20060410054436.77426.qmail@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> > Content-Type: text/plain; charset=iso-8859-1 > > Please remove my email address from your list.
