The current issue of Vintage Truck magazine has a several page article by John Mays about the CJ-8 family of "world cab" Jeeps which were produced from 1981 through 1983. The CJ-8 sold most commonly in the U.S. and Canada as the Scrambler but was available for export in four body styles with a modular dash which could easily be adapted to right or left hand drive. Four body styles were available: utility with soft top, half cab pickup, station wagon and closed van. In 1981 three engines were available, Iron Duke Pontiac (base), 4.2L AMC, and a 2.4L Nissan diesel. Four and five speed transmissions were available and I think and auto tranny was available. There are several brochure pictures of these Jeeps which I had never seen and there's a cool Renegade version with will wooden sideboards. I wonder if there is one of those long wheel base Renegades left anywhere in the world. Joe Fulton Salinas, CA
