Is yours a stick or automatic?
That's one reason I fought so hard trying to find the stick. I've always
seemed to be able to squeeze a little better gas mileage out of a stick
than an automatic.
I think th ebiggest thing this truck I bought has that may hurt mileage is
the Cheap rough lug Winston tires that are on it.
Also other thng the 4.7 and the basic sport package it has no options. No
power windows or things to weigh it down any more than it allready is.
Only thing I really miss is the power locks as I have to reach around and
open doors for people.
I have to find a CD for in it too, only has a tape, yuck!
Barring anything unforseen, I'm hoping it will be a good long term keeper.
It looks real sharp too! Red with black sport lettering, wheels and the
Factory mopar cloth tonneau cover. Even has a Uhaul class Hitch under it.
It needs nothing for me to use it as is. A first for me when buying any
vehicle!
I just wish it had less miles on it. 77,000 is not bad, but I'd have
liked a little less. After I had bought it I was talking to several of the
salesmen who are car guys and they said they have seen these trucks come
through with 150,000 miles on them already and still running strong. They
say the 4.7 is a winner for longevity from their point of view. I like the
way the plugs go straight down into the head. Single coil on plug straight
shot from on top the engine. Been a very long time since I've seen a plug
you could reach that way.
Side note; 14-15 from your 4.7 Dakota, is 1 mpg less then the piece of
crap S10 I just got rid of!!! I'll take the 1 mpg loss! Even at $2.55 a
gallon for gas!
I'll drive the Altima or the Cherokee when things are too tight or I'm
feeling cheap :] till my son gets his license in July one will be sitting
anyway. My wife can only buy one at a time. My son is now under the
realization that , Yes he will have to learn to drive stick if he wants to
drive anything but mom's old Altima! Mom is now wanting a vehicle. She
says she wants a car, or an SUV, I'm trying to point her towards a Subaru
Forester any thoughts on that one? Oh, the one they have on the showroom
floor is a stick also!
Now back to the Ambassador, since I've got the Truck situation in hand. I
have all day to weld, as long as the hole in the tank of the compressor
stays small enough to allow me to use it. I'm going to run this afternoon
and look for a bulletin board paper to see if anyone has any blown up
compressors for sale, if not I will likely buy the 30 gallon tank Frank
pointed out to me. Anyone else know of tank sources? Google and dogpile
searches all point to complete compressors. When you try for compressor
tank.
Thanks for allowing me this place to ramble!

As the owner of a 2002 quad cab dakota i would hope your not going to be
driving it too far as the fuel economy is terrible at 14-15 mpg other than
that the recall for the front balljoint,s caused me some disgust with
chrysler due to the fact they made me pay for an alignment afterward,s PS
I
love the quad cab
