Re: Clutch replacement kits

" From: usfl_fan1@xxxxxxxxx

" Alright, now that the steering box is under control (Thanks again to all
" who answered me, I appreciate it!) I have some other things I'm looking
" for, namely a clutch kit. My disc and pressure plate are garbage and the
" throwout bearing looks that way too. I found a replacement at my local
" Carquest ($191!) and have looked around online without much luck. I take
" it they are hard to find?
"
" The thing that bothered me the most was I have a 67 Rogue with a 290 V8
" 2bbl and for some reason they don't list the 290 as an option on the
" rogue, only the 196(?), 199, 232 and 343, the 290 is only listed under
" the American. Is there something I'm missing?

they're ****ed up. there was no 196 after '65 for a start...

the exact model and even year shouldn't matter; the kit for any v8
with t-10 would be the same, with one proviso: the retainer collar on
the tranny and the throwout bearing that rides on it differs from
early to late and i'm not sure of the cutoff year. '71 maybe? bad
news: the early one is the rarer.

bearing aside, the disk and pp are jellybean parts. even gm [1.125" x
10 spline] should fit!
