american power steering swap

Having swapped out the steering on my 64 last year for
a Hornet set up, it was pretty straight forward. The
box will bolt right in, but you will need a 67 and up
steering column. I believe 66 still used the spear of
death, I know 65 does because my 65 is running the
original set up.
The Hornet column will bolt to the dash of any
American with a little monkeying around, not bad, and
you can plug the Americans blinkers/horn pigtail into
the Hornets pigtail with a little trial and error on
the wires.
I was talking to a guy who did the swap on his 64 and
he cut his original shaft to bolt up to the Hornets
box. He welded on a late model flange, cobbled
together a rubber biscuit, and was gonna go that
route. I ended up trading a 69 column for his Hornet
tilt column so that he doesn't have to monkey with the electrics.....Russ
