One more detail on swapping pumps and steering boxes -- some time in the
late 70's/early 80's everyone (and AMC) went from flare fittings to
O-ring fittings for the hoses.
The good news is, fitting itself can be swapped between the two; on the
pump and the box, it is simply threaded in. I converted an 80's pump to
drive my 1970 steering box by doing this (since it was OK and in place).
