you would want to burn a chip ultimately, when you get all the values
tweaked, so you don't have to run around with the notebook and
romulator spaghetti floating around.

in principle you could do much the same with an obd2 setup. upload
the baseline maps, then drive around monitoring the sensor readings
and seeing where the ecm was in its self-calibration windows, then
generate and download/flash a corrected map and repeat. much of the
tiresom watching/thinking part could be automated in notebook
software.
