For those who have replied, thank you. For those who have not I don't blame you. So here is the ongoing 88 Eagle dilemma. On the part parts 1 and 2, I determined last night while laying on the ground off Interstate 10 in the 4th largest city in the US that Paige's 88 Eagle trannie linkage had broke. But then found out it is some sort of bracket that goes from the linkage to the transmission itself. So options included taking it to transmission shop and dropping the trans and four wheel drive thing in front to get to it.
Other option included me with saw and chisel making batcave hole in floorpan.
I figured many of the Ramblers my dad owned in the 60s had rusted floorpans and brother Tommy and me used to drop everything from Hot Wheels we had cratered to McDonalds cups to even peeing thru (c'mon, you probably did it we were 7-10 years old and in the back seat where you put your feet there was a hole 1'x1' we covered with a board, and mom and dad weren't looking anyhows) but a hole in the floor of a Rambler is no big deal.
So I got this broken piece off, it is some sort of collar that the shift rod that goes to the shifter inside the car, and a I guess passing gear or overdrive rod goes off to under the hood. This photo shows the actual piece I need.
Thanks to Mike Bailey from Route 66 Rambler who called this morning and informed me he would quickly be send a shifter, of which I am going to try to install also. But this is the big problem here that collar bolt thing shown in one of these photos, of which the photos have been removed for the amxfiles, but not for badassgremlin or eaglenest sites. Hope someone who has had this problem can coach me thru it, hands are mighty cut up from scraping the sides of the sheetmetal where I had been cutting!
Oh, Mike mentioned today he just got a Gremlin in the salvage yard out there and he has access to many AMCs in different salvage yards in the rust free Phoenix area. So please give him a email route66rambler@xxxxxxxxx if looking for ever vanishing stuff. I don't remember what year Gremlin he said just come in though.
Thanks for those who have called and emailed with help so far it is appreciated. Eddie Stakes' Planet Houston AMX 713.464.8825 eddiestakes@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
