Rhett, Seattle isn't that far away. There seem to ALWAYS be late 60s Ramblers and 70s AMC in the Seattle area. That was one of the "hot spots" for AMC. Try contacting the club up taht way, or just watching the for sale boards and Seattle area advertising papers. -- Frank Swygert Publisher, "American Independent Magazine" (AIM) For all AMC enthusiasts http://farna.home.att.net/AIM.html (free download available!) original message ----------------------------------------------- Date: Fri, 10 Feb 2006 10:21:32 -0800 From: Rhett Butler <amc.inline.six@xxxxxxxxx> To: mail@xxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: Re: Muscle Cars I'm only 22 and I started on this list when I was 14. I've had the AMC bug for most of my aware-of-my-surroundings life. But I've only ever owned one...a 1976 Gremlin Custom (in Sienna Orange, with white rally stripes and tan Potomac interior). Best car I've ever owned, and I've had 6. It was cheap to run (though gas mileage hovered at 18 with the 258-1V/3AT), drove it 28,000 miles a year and only had to replace a solenoid and the (all drum= ) brakes. I want another one desperately, but it seems that the only AMCs I can find that aren't crumbling are in the midwest, California, or the East Coast, at least, on ebay. And most of those say "Rare" and "Collector" (when they're = a 4-cylinder '81 Spirit or something) and are priced pretty high. Even Eddie'= s SUAD posts rarely have a car in an area code that's within 8 hours of mine (Portland, OR). I don't have a car now, and want my next one to be an AMC again. Hopefully a 4 or 6-cylinder (with a preference for manual transmissions) Gremlin, Hornet, Spirit, Concord, or Eagle. Maybe a Matador or '70s Ambassador. I FEEL it, man. And not to toot my own horn, but I know a ton about AMCs. S= o I've LEARNed. I just need to DRIVE now. Peace, Rhett -
