I've been wondering, When you had things done, Did you use a high volume pump? Where is your tap for oil pressure for the turbo coming from? With a stock pump and your tap for the turbo coming out of the same passage that feeds the shaft this may account for your lower feed to the shaft. If that is the case, you may not see much improvement from adding the external line. I'd make double sure that the oil system to the shaft is clear and the correct bolt is in the correct hole. The other possibility is that machine work has partially plugged the feed hole in the head. I had this happen once on a Renault 1.4 head. They milled th ehead and when they cleaned it they forced the shavings up into the feed hole and plugged it. I missed it on the install and had to pull the head to clear it. That sucked! If you do have the wrong cam bearing or a plugged passage then the external line will indeed fix the problem. I would be considering going to the 4.0L head if I were you. A Renix version may be real close to working with your existing manifolds. Or a late 80's 258 head with the aluminum cover. You dump the shaft and go from a 1.5 ratio rocker arm to a 1.6 arm. It would take some fiddling wiht things, but using the renix or 258 head should be close to your existing head. with the Turbo in place I would think the 91 up head may take more work, although it is a better head. The intake ports are spaced up higher on the 91 up head. Renix 87-90 is closer to the 232-258 height. Someone recently posted that the late 80's 258 head is almost identical to the renix head except it is missing the notch for the injectors, which you would not want. If I've done nothing but confuse you I'm sorry. Ask questions and if I can't answer them someone else will, probably correcting my misstakes in the process! :] -- Mark Price markprice242ATadelphia.net Morgantown, WV >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Message-ID: <000901c62df2$841c4aa0$b2d43cd0@1r75r01> From: "Clarence Milstead" <cmilstead@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> To: "AMC list" <mail@xxxxxxxxxxxx> Subject: Lack of oil to rocker shaft Date: Thu, 9 Feb 2006 21:31:44 -0600 Thanks for the input from all of you. I've about decided that when I had the engine rebuilt they used the wrong cam bearing for my engine. I get some oil to the shaft but not enough. I may have to use the external line for oil, that will be better than tearing the engine down to install the correct bearing. Anyone have other ideas that might work? Thanks again.
